Holy Week Services 2018
Palm Sunday, March 25
This service marks the triumphal entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem. We will distribute palm branches and process around the church singing joyful hymns, and then we celebrate the Eucharist. Our focus for this service will strictly be on the palm procession into Jerusalem.
Monday in Holy Week: Solemn Evensong, with devotions 7:30 pm
Using the Prayer Book, we sing a solemn evening and reflect on the events of that long ago Monday, in Jerusalem, when Our Lord taught on the Temple steps. The service concludes with a devotion before the Blessed Sacrament. Incense is used during this service

Tuesday in Holy Week: Holy Eucharist 7:30 pm
A sung service of Holy Communion with a reflects on the events of that long ago Tuesday, in Jerusalem. Tension builds with the first shadows of the cross becoming evident.

Wednesday in Holy Week: Stations of the Cross 7:30 pm
We process about the building, following the 14 traditional stations of the cross, recalling the haunting events that occurred as Our Lord was led from the judgement hall of Pilate to the cross on the hill called Calvary.
Maundy Thursday, March 29 7:30 pm
This service commemorates the institution of the Last Supper, when Our Lord gave to us an everlasting memorial of his death and passion. Following the Eucharist, the altar is stripped of all its appointments and the chancel is cleared of all articles. These actions symbolize the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. The final act is to veil the altar cross in black, symbolizing the betrayal by Judas.
Good Friday, March 30 3:00 pm
This solemn service recalls the events during Our Lord's crucifixion. A large cross is carried into the worship space and people are invited to kneel at the foot of that cross for a time of prayer. This service begins and ends in silence.
Holy Saturday and the Great Vigil of Easter, March 31 9:00 pm
We start in darkness and light the great Pascal Candle. From that candle, congregant's candles are lit, and the first part of the Vigil, recalling how God rescues His people, is by candle-light. Then, BANG - bells ring, the organ sounds and the great celebration of Easter begins. Alleluias resound, the empty tomb is found and a whole new world awaits us.
